War was triggered in the Balkans where the Ottoman Empire had once maintained control. Industrialization and technology had both contributed to the advances in the development of weapons. This devastatingly was the get of millions of deaths in World War I. War was now fought in trenches and they used machine guns as well as tanks and grenades.
